7 Day Plan - Get a Spotless, Beautifully Organized Home Office

OrganizedHomeOfficeFor those that work from home or those that have a home office, maybe you're like me - you love having the space and you're too busy to worry about filing everything. Quite frankly, the picture you see above is not of my office. My office looks like this (back in 2013... it doesn't look like this now):Does your home office look something like this, too? Does your home office look something like this, too? Well, an article on Houzz.com this morning caught my eye. It's titled, "7 Day Plan - Get a Spotless, Beautifully Organized Home Office". That article spoke to me because, as you can clearly see, my office is a mess. As a side note, I know where everything is and anything truly important is filed properly and easily retrievable in seconds. The article breaks things down in 7 simple steps:

  • Day 1: Deal with Paper - Pull all the papers out of your drawers and off your desk, sort and stack...and keep a shredder or recycling bin handy

  • Day 2: Make Some Space - Pull all the non-paper items out of your drawers and sort them into piles and remove unused, broken, or duplicate items

  • Day 3: Get Organized - See what's around the house that can be re-used rather than running out to the organization store...your chance to be creative

  • Day 4: Freshen Up - Vacuum and wipe down

  • Day 5: Consider Comfort - Think about your chair, leg support, and lighting

  • Day 6: Add a Personal Touch - The office should be an extension of your home and should reflect YOU

  • Day 7: Do Daily Maintenance - Resolve to handle papers once or set aside a specific time weekly to handle everything that piles up

Check out the full article and let me know your thoughts...and if you attempt the 7 Day Plan, I'd love to see the before and after photos.
